Sunnyside is a comprehensive transformation of an existing dwelling, reworking both its form and function to create a substantially expanded family home with extensive leisure and guest accommodation.

The key challenge was to dramatically expand and reorganise the existing house to accommodate a complex brief including additional living space, guest accommodation, and dedicated leisure facilities, while fundamentally improving the relationship between the building, its landscape, and its approach.

The solution significantly reconfigures the original property, including a dramatic transformation of its external appearance and arrival experience through the relocation of the main entrance away from the road to a more private, landscape-led setting. This change fundamentally alters how the house is approached and experienced, shifting emphasis from a roadside frontage to a more secluded and composed arrival sequence.

A substantial extension to the main house at both ground and first floor levels reorganises the internal layout to accommodate five bedrooms, a dedicated master suite, and a range of bespoke living spaces including a cinema room and generous family areas. A loft conversion further increases usable space, supporting a highly flexible domestic arrangement.

A new glazed link connects the main house to a newly formed annexe, which provides dedicated leisure accommodation including a games room and bar at ground floor level, with a gym above, allowing recreational functions to operate independently from family living spaces.

Externally, the introduction of a new swimming pool and fire pit establishes a strong landscape focus, reinforcing the leisure-led nature of the scheme. Extensive glazing throughout the development enhances transparency and visual continuity between internal spaces, the garden, and the pool setting.

The result is a complete architectural and spatial transformation of the original property, both in terms of appearance and function, delivering a large, highly adaptable family home that integrates living, entertaining, wellness, and guest accommodation within a unified and contemporary composition.
